David Schmid will become a strategic partner and co-owner of the CAT Financial Group on 1 June 2021. With his many years of international experience in the field of finance, David will drive the expansion of the Group within and outside Switzerland in particular. He will also contribute his entrepreneurial ideas to the further expansion of the business activities of the CAT Financial Group, which has just moved into new offices at Tessinerplatz 7 in Zurich and is opening its fourth Swiss branch in Geneva in the autumn of 2021. As a partner, David Schmid will be responsible for the strategic development of CAT Financial Products. This includes, on the one hand, the internationalisation of activities in the area of innovative, structured investment solutions. At the same time, with his comprehensive investment expertise and international network, David is ideally placed to expand existing direct investments in SMEs as well as asset management for private and institutional clients in a targeted manner. The expansion of existing business activities to offer new services is also being considered in order to achieve the Group’s ambitious growth targets.

The CAT Financial Group currently comprises three business units: CAT Financial Products offers structured investment solutions for asset managers, banks and institutional investors using the most innovative technologies. CAT Growth enables investors to invest directly in SMEs. Recently, CAT Growth announced the first exit of one of its portfolio companies. After two and a half years, the holding in the electric truck company Designwerk Products was successfully sold to Volvo Group with a multiple of almost 15. The third division, CAT Wealth Management, is dedicated to private and institutional asset management.

Giuliano Glocker, founder and partner of the CAT Financial Group, comments: “We are delighted to have found the ideal strategic partner for the further expansion of the Group in David Schmid. Thanks to his many years of international experience and his excellent network, we are able to take the next step in the strategic expansion of our business activities. We want to leverage on David’s expertise to broaden our range of innovative, tailor-made investment solutions. For me, this further strengthening of the Group together with an expert partner marks the beginning of a new chapter.”

David Schmid adds: “CAT Financial Products is one of the leading providers of investment solutions in the structured products sector in Switzerland. We also want to strengthen this position outside our home market, and in doing so continually expand our range of products and services. At CAT, I can realise my entrepreneurial visions and play an active role in shaping the Group’s expansion. Giuliano Glocker and his team have impressed me with their work over the past few years and I look forward to working together to develop additional, interesting investment opportunities and to realise our ambitious growth targets.”

David Schmid had worked for Leonteq AG in Switzerland since 2008 and, as a member of the Executive Committee and Head of the Investment Solutions Division, played a key role in the development and expansion of the listed company. As CEO Asia, he looked after Leonteq’s business activities in Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan for four years. David successfully established the manufacturing and distribution of financial products in the APAC region before heading up global distribution and trading of structured products in Zurich with over 200 employees at 11 locations in Switzerland, Europe and Asia.
